Fortun (IRE, 2009), a bay colt [Bachelor Duke-Duckmore Bay(Titus Livius)], owned by Cuadra La Toledana, trained by J. L. Maroto and ridden by J. Crocquevieille, was the winner of today's GP Villapadierna (Spanish Derby), (2,400 m, 3yos), beating Kadmios (Kavafi) by a neck, with the favourite Galipoli (Sulamani) third two lengths behind and Campillo (Lando) fourth.
Campillo, first and Arsalan afterwards commanded the field form most of the race. In the beginning of the home stretch, Jeremy Crocquevieille found a gap along the rail inside Arsalan, who was more tired and was the first to attack, helding off the final charge or Kadmios, who didn't keep a straight line, perhaps losing some ground.
