Arnuero, Casar, Valle and Del Cossa, transferred

Arnuero (GB, 2008) [Sakhee-Penang Pearl(Bering)] and Casar (IRE, 2008) [Hurricane Run-Thoroughly(Woodman)] have been transferred from Cuadra Bering to Cuadra Realejo, although both will be kept for now under the care of trainer M. Delcher S. Arnuero is a winning half brother to Harbinger, the winner of 2010 King George and Queen Elizabeth Stakes Diamond Stakes and Casar is a winner, was sixth in the Villapadierna (Derby) and is half brother to Prix de Condé (Gr. 3) winner and Spanish Derby runner up Midnight Beauty (Celtic Swing).

Cuadra Bering has also sold Valle (USA, 2008) [E Dubai-Azelna(Tropular)] to a new owner who will also keep him with M. Delcher S.

Meanwhile, Del Cossa (FR, 2008) [Della Francesca-La Frandiere(Kaldoun)] has been sold by Cuadra San Cristóbal to Cuadra Río Cubas. Del Cossa has only four starts, with one win and two seconds (to Ayanz at 2 and to Don Fernando Hab in his last start, beating Volcánico)

The 2 yo race was won by Pippa Snudge, owned by Sunshine Racing, trained by Peter Haley and ridden by Fergal Lynch.

And Kuruchet was last in his first start since the Mijas Cup: Premio euroweekly News. The race was won by Kayseri will Illizmit second and Flow Boy third after a very slow start.

Mijas tonight and Criterium Nacional this Sunday in San Sebastian

Once concluded the Thursday night meetings in La Zarzuela, summer continues with Friday night races in Mijas (Málaga) and Sunday meetings in Lasarte (San Sebastián)

In the Mijas meeting, Kuruchet (ARG, 2006) [Beat Hollow-Karlaska(Lashkari)] reappears after his injury in the Mijas Cup, carrying the top weight in a 1,800 m handicap (Premio Euroweekly News).

In the 2yo race, the 6 partants include Valkiria (SPA, 2009), [Visindar-Snow
Dream(Sagacity)] second product of Visindar to debut, after Visindario, who was third some weeks ago in Madrid. Pacha (SPA, 2009) [Fragrant Wells-Beyond the Stars] will also make her debut. Pacha belongs to the first crop of Fragrant Wells after he returned from France (He has some Spanish products from previous years).

In the Sunday meeting in San Sebastián, the main race is the Criterium Nacional, a 1,400 m race for Spanish bred 2 yo, with 10 partants:
Azabache (SPA, 2009) [Iceman-Tiviski]. Bay colt, owned by Cuadra Los Toneles, trained by F. Rodríguez, will be ridden by J. Grosjean. Has three
starts and three placings.

Galileus (SPA, 2009) [Sorcerous-Zone Spirit]. Bay colt. Owned by Cuadra Río Cubas, trained by J. C. Fernández, he will be ridden by J. L. Martínez. Galileus won the Premio Martorell (a 1,200 m race in Madrid, the main race for 2 yo in the spring season.

Gigolo Star (SPA, 2009) [Dyhim Diamond-Flamingo Star] chestnut colt, was second in his only start. His dam won this race in 2006. Owned by Cuadra Magaña, trained by J. C. Fernández, will be ridden by J. L. Borrego.


Hamelin (SPA, 2009) [Limpid-Zurriola]. Bay colt, owned by Yeguada Militar, trained by J. P. Espinosa, will be ridden by A. Gómez.

Leitzarán (SPA, 2009) [Dyhim Diamond-Maria Teresa],bay colt, owned by Cuadra Eva, trained by Ana Imaz, will be ridden by Gloria Madero. He won his only start.

Matusalen (SPA, 2009) [Caradak-Bixaare], bay colt, owned by Cuadra Aller, trained by M. Delcher S, will be ridden by J. Horcajada. Matusalen also won his only start and is the second product of Caradak to win.

Victor's Bet (SPA, 2009) [Leadership-Marmaria], A bay colt, owned by Cuadra Betvictor, trained by I. Vaquero, will be ridden by O. Ortiz de Urbina. Winner in his second start.

Emsi (SPA, 2009) [One Cool Cat-Zerlina], bay filly, owned by Cuadra Rober, trained by R. Avial, will be ridden by O.H. Flores. Second in her second start.

Flash McQueen (SPA, 2009) [Dyhim Diamond-Peinture d'Or], a chestnut filly, owned by Cédric Boutin, is trained by A. Imaz Ceca and will be ridden by J. B. Hamel. She has 3 starts with one win and two placings (in France)

Liberalia (SPA, 2009), a chestnut filly, is owned by Buelna Equii, trained by P. R>. Urbina and will be ridden by F. R. Martínez

Mil Azul (SPA) and As de Trébol (USA) win the preps for the Gobierno Vasco

Mil Azul (SPA, 2008) [Russian Blue-Cuittled(Charismatic)], the bay colt owned by Yeguada Urdiñ-Oriya, trained by J. L. Salas and ridden by J. L. Borrego, won this Sunday the Premio Real Sociedad de Fútbol (1,400 m, 3 yo) in the Lasarte racecourse in San Sebastián, beating the favourites Volcánico (IRE, 2008) and Don Fernando Hab, with La Llanura fourth.

In the other prep race for the Premio Gobierno Vasco, the Premio Coca-Cola (1,400 m, 4yo+) , the winner was the globetrotter As de Trébol (USA, 2006) [Tapit-Adelphi(Danzig)], ridden by Borja Fayos for Cuadra Chicago and trainer M. Delcher S, with Shumookh second and Salpado third.

Volcánico, Don Fernando Hab, Shumookh, As de Trébol

Two races of this Sunday's meeting in San Sebastián are prep races for the Premio Gobierno Vasco (the most important mile race of the season, for 3 yo+, to be held in August 21th). In first one of these two races (Premio Real Sociedad de Fútbol), over 1,400 m, Volcánico (IRE, 2008) [Refuse to Bend-Zayana)], recent winner of the GP Claudio Carudel in Madrid, will face Don Fernando Hab (SPA,2008) [Intikhab-Flying Fulmar(Bahamian Bounty)] who beat him in their only duel so far and who comes from three wins in a row out of four starts. Volcánico will be ridden by Julien Grosjean for trainer Francisco Rodríguez and owner Cuadra Los Toneles, and J. E. Jarkovswy will ride Don Fernando Hab for Cuadra Vadillo and trainer A. Carrasco. Mil Azul (SPA, 2008) [Russian Blue-Cuittled(Charismatic)], El Incendio (IRE, 2008) [Clodovil-Duckmore Bay(Titus Livius)] and La Llanura (CAN, 2008) [El Prado-Herzblatt(Cozzene)] (the only filly), complete the total 5 partants.

The Premio Cocacola is que equivalent race for 4yo+ and has Shumookh (IRE, 2003) [Mujahid-Midway Lady(Alleged)] and As de Trébol (USA, 2006) as favourites. Shumookh won the Premio Gobierno Vasco last year, holding off the attack by Silverside and will try to repeat this year, beginning with this prep race. Cerqueira, as usual, will ride Shumookh, who may reach 200,000 euros in earnings in this race. Los Aspirantes are their owners and T. Callejo is his trainer. As de Trébol will be ridden by B. Fayos for Cuadra Chicago and M. Delcher S. Lince (GB, 2006, Singspiel), Makaamen (GB, 2006, Selkirk), Salpado (FR, 2006), Washita (SPA, 2007, British Open) and Zacarías (FR, 2005, Slickly) complete the field.

Some results of these last weeks

While his relatives, the siblings Entre Copas and Casaca keep winning in Spain, Vagabond Shoes (GB, 2007) [Beat Hollow-Atiza(Singspiel)] the 4 yo colt owned by Dr. Salmean and trained by Yan Durepaire, won the Gr. 3 Prix Messidor at Maisons Laffite, Saturday 16 of July, a 1,600 m race for 3 y/o+, beating Biondetti and Polytehnicien. He was ridden by Christophe Soumillon.

Vagabond Shoes was second to Byword in his previous start, in the Gr. 3 Prix du Chemin de Fer du Nord.

There will be a half brother to Vagabond Shoes, a bay colt by Tiger Hill in the Dehesa de Milagro yearling sale (September 10th). He has also a 3yo half sister (by Noverre) and a 2yo half sister by Iceman in training.

Meanwhile, Aspasia de Mileto (GB, 2008) [Hurricane Run-Fabulous Speed] was fifth in the Listed Prix Thuberville, a 2,400 m race for 3yo fillies at Longchamp, Thursday 14 of July, in her first start for her new trainer Carlos Laffon. Abdel and Señor Miranda won the prep races for the Copa de Oro

Abdel (SPA, 2008) [Dyhim Diamond-Leonor de Guzmán], owned, bred and trained by J. M. Osorio, won the Premio Diputación de Guipúzcoa, the prep race for 3 yo for the Copa de Oro de San Sebastián, beating Cape Point and Dunboinne, with some controversy because Abdel invaded the line of Dunboinnee in the stretch.

Meanwhile, Señor Miranda (GB, 2007) won the equivalent race for 4yo+, beating Karluv Most and Plantagenet, among others.

Dyhim Diamond moved to Dehesa de Milagro

The stallion Dyhim Diamond, who stood this year at Haras de Ulzama, has been moved to Dehesa de Milagro, also in Navarra, Spain.

Dyhim Diamond is the sire of Gr. 1 winners Bannaby (Cadran) and Turtle Bowl (Prix Jean Prat) and is having outstanding results with his Spanish 2008 crop, with multiple winners, some of them with placings in big races (Eltso was second to Ayanz in the Villapadierna-Spanish Derby, Belate was second to Aspasia de Mileto in the Valderas-1,000 guineas).

The report from Revista Grupo Uno (in Spanish), indicates also that the yearlings of Ulzama Bloodstock are relocated at Dehesa de Milagro, and the 15 mares of Ulzama Bloodstock will follow soon. The yearlings will be offered for sale in the Dehesa de Milagro sale, announced for the 10th of September 2011.

Blog on vacation but some news

Although this blog is on vacation, I have time to inform telegraphically about some events:

There are now seasons going on in Madrid (La Zarzuela) Thursdays night, Mijas (Saturdays night) and San Sebastián (Sundays afternoon).

The San Sebastián season has begun with a prep-race for the Premio Kutxa (the main race for 3yo+ fillies in San Sebastián) and this prep-race was won by Casaca, the half sister to Entre Copas, bred and owned by Cuadra África, and trained by J.M. Osorio. Casaca was ridden by J. Crocquevieille. She beat two Beamonte (Oaks) winners: Narya (2010) and Clunia (2011).
