Ariete Arrollador, second again in Meydan

In his second race in Meydan, Ariete Arrollador (GB, 2007) was again second in Dubai, closing strongly under Mirco Demuro in the Dubai Duty Free Finest Surprise, a 1,200 m race won by Krypton Factor with Kieren Fallon.
The 5yo black colt, [Kingsalsa-Proud Dounna(Kaldoun)] travelled towards the rear of  field, but showed a good acceleration when he found room to advance in the stretch, although he couldn't reach the winner.

Ariete Arrollador, As de Trébol and Silverside tomorrow in Meydan

Three Spanish trained horses will run tomorrow in the Dubai meeting

Ariete Arrollador (GB, 2007) [Kingsalsa-Proud Dounna(Kaldoun)], owned by Cuadra Albero, trained by G. Arizkorreta will take part in the Dubai Duty Free Finest Surprise (1,200 m, All Weather, 110,000 USD, 1st race of the card). He was second to Barbecue Eddie in his debut in Meydan: Elisalat My Plan
He will be ridden again by Mirco Demuro. Ariete Arrollador won the Premio Cimera (Guineas) in 2010 and is one of the top milers in Spain.

As de Trébol (USA, 2006) [Tapit-Adelphi(Danzig)] owned by Cuadra Chicago and trained by M. Delcher will run in the Dubai Duty Free Foundation (1,400 m, all-weather, 120,000 USD, 2nd race of the card). He was fourth in his previous outing and is a veteran of the Meydan racecourse, this 2012 being his second year. He will be ridden by Borja Fayos

Silverside (USA, 2006) [Pleasantly Perfect-Lyrical Ghost], owned by Cuadra Safsaf (winner of the owner's title in Spain in 2011) and now trained in France by F. Sánchez, will be the top weight in the third race of the card (Dubai Duty Free Handicap, 1,400 m, turf, 175,000 USD). He will be ridden by Olivier Peslier. This is the first race for Silverside this year in Meydan. He also took part in the 2011 Dubai Carnival. Like Ariete Arrollador, Silverside won the Premio Cimera (Spanish 2,000 Guineas) in 2001, beating As de Trébol.

Domeside beats Karluv Most in the Premio Cruzcampo

The main race of today's meeting in Dos Hermanas was a 2,200 m race for 4yo+, the Premio Cruzcampo.

And the winner was Domeside (GB, 2006), a bay colt, [Domedriver-Buck's Fizz(Kris)], owned by Cuadra Safsaf, trained by M Delcher S and ridden by Julien Grosjean. The race was lead with a fast pace by Don Hernando Hab (SPA, 2008) (Delfos), followed by Jimmy Fallabella, but in the home stretch, it all was reduced to a match between Domeside and Karluv Most (FR, 2006) [Della Francesca]. Don Hernando Hab was third and Volapie was fourth.

Domeside won the Spanish Derby (Premio Villamejor) in 2009 and was later injured. He reappeared one year ago in the Dos Hermanas season, reaching a high level in the spring at Madrid. After disappointing performances in the summer, he was third (to Ayanz and Arnuero) in the Memorial Duque de Toledo and second to Entre Copas in the Gladiateur. Plans for Domeside might include the first race of the Defi du Galop.

Other winners of the meeting were Pompon Coeur (SPA, 2009), a bay filly [Green Tune-Villa Sonata(Mozart)] in the 1,600 m race for 3yo Spanish breds. Premio Cría Nacional . Pompon Coeur is also owned by Safsaf, is trained by F. Rodríguez, and was ridden by J. Grosjean, who won three races today, since he also rode Azabache (Iceman), winner of the 1,000 m race for 3yo for traned F. Rodríguez and Cuadra Los Toneles.

Domeside, Volapie and Karluv Most in Dos Hermanas

In the next meeting, next Sunday 22 in Dos Hermanas, Seville, the main race is a 2,200 race for 4 yo+, with seven participants and a 12,000 euros for the winner. The participants are:

Calamargo (GB, 2007), a bay colt [Arakan-Rain of Flanders(Rainbow Quest)]. owned by Cuadra Jimena, he is trained by Angel Sánchez and his jockey will be J. L. Borrego.  
Domeside (GB, 2006), a bay colt [Domedriver-Buck's Fizz(Kris)], owned by Cuadra Safsaf, trained by M. Delcher, he will be ridden by J. Grosjean. Domeside won his last start: Premio Cajasol Banca Cívica, beating Achtung (winner of the Villamejor). Domeside will be the favourite.
Jimmy Falabella (IRE, 2005), bay gelding [Mull of Kintyre-Super Value(Polar Falcon)], owned by Cuadra Los Aspirantes, trained by Teo Callejo, will be ridden by J. L. Cerqueira.
Karluv Most (FR, 2006), bay colt [Della Francesca-La Vlatava(Grand Lodge)], owned by Cuadra Cholaica, trained by J. L. Maroto, will be ridden by J. Crocquevieille. Best stayer of 2010, he couldn't win in 2011.  
Kuruchet (ARG, 2007), bay colt [Beat Hollow-Karlaska(Lashkari)], owned by Cuadra San Acacio, trained by J. Calderón, will be ridden by D. Delgado. He won this race last year and was fifth in his comeback
Volapié (SPA, 2007), bay gelding [Multazem-Bassaver(Bass)], owned by Cuadra Romana Alta, trained by M. J. Pérez, will be ridden by R. H. Huayas. He has won his last two starts, the last one being the Premio Cajasol, beating Juruchet, Karluv Most, Jimmy Falabella.
Don Hernando Hab (SPA, 2008), ch. gelding [Delfos-Cuddles(Anabaa)], owned by Gonzalo Hernando Aboin, trained by A. Carrasco will be ridden by F- Jiménez.

There will also be a 1,600 m race for 2yo, with the winners Juan Daniel (Baptize) and Vraivita (Fol Parade) and three debutants in the total field of 10 horses: Fischer (Federal Trial), Expatbet (Green Tune) and Sindarita (Caradak)

Vereda and Rubens win in Dos Hermanas, Obatala in Vila Seca

Last weekend featured five races in Dos Hermanas (Seville) and three races in Vilaseca In the Dos Hermanas meeting, Vereda (SPA, 2009, bay filly) [Kheleyf-Society Fair] won the 1,600 m race for 3 yo, beating Esgues (Dyhim Diamond) by half a length. Vereda was ridden by Oscar Ortiz de Urbina for trainer J. L. Maroto and Cuadra Asturleña. She is half sister to Lorgan, 2nd in the Premio Cimera (2,000 Guineas) and winner of the GP Claudio Carudel. There were also a 1,500 m race for 4yo+ Spanish breds, clearly won by Rubens [Fragrant Wells], ridden by J. Grosjean and owned by Yeguada Cortiñal. His trainer is J. C. Fernández R. Corcubión was second. Ariete Arrollador 2nd and Plantagenet 6th in Meydan

Ariete Arrollador (GB, 2007) [Kingsalsa-Proud Dounna], owned by Cuadra Albero, trained by G. Arizkorreta and ridden by Mirco Demuro, was second in the Etisalat My Plan, a 1,400 m handicap in the Meydan all-weather track yesterday. He travelled in the middle of the field and he found a place along the rail in the home stretch. Although he was not asked for most of the race, when Demuro asked him to quicken, he did so, but not strongly enough to threaten the winner, Barbecue Eddie, ridden by Richard Hills.

In Spain, Ariete Arrollador won the Premio Cimera (Spanish 2,000 Guineas) at three and in 2011 he was second in the most important 1,600 m races for 3yo+ in the a Zarzuela racetrack, beating by Volcánico in the GP Claudio Carudel and by Abdel in the GP de la Hispanidad.

Plantagenet and Ariete Arrollador to run in Meydan this Thursday

Plantagenet (SPA, 2007) is a chestnut colt, [Tradefair-Crafty Buzz(Crafty Prospector)] winner of the Premio Villapadierna (Spanish Derby) in 2010. This year, he was third in the GP de Madrid in his best performance. His last outing was in France, where he was unplaced. Plantagenet is owned by Cuadra Whylar and trained by G. Arizkorreta. He is entered in a 2410 m Handicap race.

Ariete Arrollador (GB, 2007), a bay colt, [Kingsalsa-Proud Douna] is also a Classic winner, since he won the GP Cimera (Spanish 2,000 Guineas) in 2010. He has run three times in Deauville, and he is undefeated in that all-weather track, winning the Listed Prix Luthier in his last outing. He is owned by Cuadra Albero and trained also by Guillermo Arizkorreta. He is entered in a 1,400 m Handicap race with a total purse of 110,000 USD (66,000 for the winner).

Domeside beats Achtung in the Premio Cajasol Banca Cívica

Domeside (GB, 2006) [Domedriver-Buck's Fizz] briliantly won the 2,800 m race of the Dos Hermanas meeting today, beating Achtung (SPA, 2008) by 5 lengths. Domeside is owned by Safsaf and trained by M. Delcher S and was ridden by Julien Grosjean. The race was led by Don Hernando Hab until the last turn, in which Domeside launched his attack, followed by Achtung. Soon it became clear that Domeside was going to win and he did so by a comfortable margin. Seminole Cry was third and Calamargo fourth

Domeside has now run 23 times, with 7 wins and 11 placings in Spain.

Safsaf stable wins the owners title

Anthony Forde's Safsaf stable won the owners title in Spain in 2011 by a close margin over Cuadra África. Safsaf earned a total of 216,900 euros in prize money with 33 runners, while Cuadra África won 209,351 with 7 runners.

Domeside (GB, 2006), who runs this Sunday, was the best horse of Safsaf in Spain, winning the inaugural running of the GP Duque de Alburquerque. He was the Derby winner in 2009. Safsaf also owns the globetrotter Silverside (Pleasantly Perfect), Gr. 2 winner in Germany and Group placed in Norway this year. Silverside is in Dubai for the Carnival. He is also a Classic winner of the Premio Cimera (Spanish 2,000 Guineas).

With only 7 runners, Cuadra África won a lot of good races, mostly with the siblings Entre Copas and Casaca (also Gr. 3 placed in France).

Cuadra Los Toneles (owners of Volcánico) was the third, with 155,625 euros in prize money earned by 15 runners.

Mauri Delcher wins the trainer title

Trainer Mauricio Delcher Sánchez won the trainer title in Spain with a total of 517,710 euros in prize money, with Guillermo Arizkorreta second and J. M. Osorio third. Runners saddled by Delcher won a total of 43 races. His most important runner was the 2yo Matusalén (winner of the Gran Criterium), while Domeside also did a good campaign this year.

This is the sixth title for Delcher S in the last seven years.

And Mauri Delcher will have As de Trébol in the first day of the Dubai Carnival, in the Longines Saint Imier Collection Handicap. The veteran gray colt will be ridden by Borja Fayos.

Breeding news: Jade, Amorada, Your or No one, Blue Ridge View

Jade (PER, 2001) the bay mare [Combsway-Miss Tostachos], winner of the GP Memorial Duque de Toledo 2006 and winner of the Benítez de Lugo apart from being Group winner in Peru, will be covered by Sholokhov at the Gestut Etzean in Germany in 2012. She has a 2010 colt by Honours List called Love is the Answer, in training.

Amorada (FR, Kendor) will be bred to Dashing Blade. She is a half sister to Montmartre's dam, Artistique and is the dam of Antinoo (2008), Miss Susana (Captain Rio) Aguamarina (2009, Ifraaj) and Antartida (2010) and of a filly by Montmartre.

You or No One (IRE, 2006) [Falbrav-Desperate Virgin(Chief Singer)]. This bay filly, 3rd in the Beamonte (Spanish Oaks), won the GP Memorial Duque de Toledo and the Premio Kutxa at three, and her only start at 4, being injured afterwards. Owned by Cuadra Tres y Medio, she will travel to Ireland to be covered by Rock of Gibraltar.

And yet another filly winner of the GP Memorial Duque de Toledo, Blue Ridge View (FR, 2004) [Lomitas-Ashby Gap], is for sale in foal to Kingsalsa. She has a yearling by Le Havre, called Habby Blue.

Jeremy Crocquevieille wins the jockey title in Spain

French jockey Jeremy Crocquevieille won the jockey title in 2011 in Spain, with a total of 60 wins, with Czech Vaclav Janacek second.

Crocquevieille is the jockey of trainer J. M. Osorio, meaning he could ride Entre Copas, Casaca, Abdel, Aspasia de Mileto, among others, letting him win a good number of important races.

Entre Copas (GB, 2004) horse of the year in Spain

Entre Copas (GB, 2004) [Sakhee-Priena(Priolo)], has been designated horse of the year in Spain. The chestnut gelding, bred and owned by Cuadra África and trained by J. M. Osorio, had 7 starts and 6 wins, including the Mijas Cup (2,200 m), the Premio Corpa (3,000 m), the GP de Madrid (2,500 m), the GP de San Sebastián (2,800 m) and the Premio Gladiateur (4,000 m), he lost only the GP Memorial Duque de Toledo. This progressive chestnut gelding has become better with age, reaching his highest level at seven years. Trained by J. M. Osorio, he is owned by Cuadra África and his jockey is Jeremy Crocquevieille.

Brave Prospector wins in the last meeting of the year

Brave Prospector (GB, 2005) [Oasis Dream-Simply Time] the bay gelding owned by Cuadra Los Aspirantes, trained by Teo Callejo and ridden by J. Crocquevieille won yesterday the Premio Hipódromos de Andalucía (1,600 m, 3yo+) beating Bottega (USA, 2007) [Mineshaft-Sun is Up], with Corcubión (SPA, 2005) [Kashwan-Loureira] third. This is the second win in two starts, for the G3 performer in the UK Brave Prospector, bought recently in Tattersalls.

Makaamen was the frontrunner, Bottega took command in the last turn but he was surpassed by Brave Prospector in the stretch. Here is the race: Premio Hipódromos de Andalucía.

Other winners of the meeting were:
Milagrés (GB, 2008), a bay colt [Delfos-Royal Ulay], owned and trained by M. Delcher Sánchez, ridden by J. Grosjean, won the handicap race, with the top weight.

Fortun (IRE, 2009) won the 1,800 m race for 2 yo, for Cuadra Becares and trainer J. L. Maroto and ridden by J. Crocquevieille, beating Makalali (Kodiak)

Chiqui (IRE, 2009) [Captain Rio] , won the 1,200 m race for maiden 2yos.

Dixlesio (Ifraaj) won the 2,100 m claiming race.
