A filly by Jacira for sale in Arqana and other connections to Spanish turf

The Arqana October yearling sale includes, with lot number 58, a yearling filly by Arch and Jacira [Sillery-Vol Sauvage(Always Fair)]. Jacira was one of the best fillies in Spain in the last decade, winning the Premio Kutxa and the Copa de Oro de San Sebastián (one of the only 4 fillies to win this race). She totalled 10 wins and 7 placings in Spain and France and was also second in the Premio Paolo Mezzanotte, (Gr. 3) in Italy.

Here is Jacira winning the Premio Kutxa 2003, beating the Listed and Gr. 3 placed Northern Blue Premio Kutxa 2003 and here is the Jacira winning the Copa de Oro de San Sebastián 2004

An in depth analysis of Jacira's pedigree can be found here: http://www.pedigreepost.net/archives/JacirabyManueldeLuque.html.

This is the fourth product of Jacira, with only two to run: Janaflix (2006, by johannesburg, unplaced in two starts) and Royal Imari (2007, by Royal Academy, with one win and 7 placings in 9 starts). She has also a 2 yo filly by Proud Citizen, unraced to date.

His second dam is Teresa, one of the best fillies of the twentieth century in Spain, who won both Classics (Valderas and Beamonte), the Benítez de Lugo and was unbeaten in Spain. The edition of this year is marked by the absence of Aspasia de Mileto, winner of the Premio Valderas (1,000 guineas), who will skip this race, presumably for an attempt to win the Premio Villapadierna (Derby) against the colts.

Jockey Claudio Carudel won the Premio Beamonte none less than 13 times.
