Time for Mijas

The racing season of Mijas (Málaga) will begin this weekend. There will be meetings on Sundays 13th, 20th and 27th of February and Sunday March 6th and also Fridays February 25th and April 22th.

The Hipódromo Costa del Sol was opened in 2000 and is home to the race with the biggest purse in Spain: The Gran Premio Día de Andalucía - Mijas Cup. Here is the wikipedia page for the Mijas Cup:

The last edition of the Mijas Cup was won by the grey colt Nelson Groom (FR, 2006), ridden by J.L. Martinez for trainer F. Rodríguez. Here is the race: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfdxFKrdV50. Nelson Groom [Charming Groom-Slot Machine], owned by Reza Pazooki, will probably run this year also in the Mijas Cup. In fact, he will run this Sunday in the prep race.
